FSSAI is a license mandated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Family Health & Welfare, before starting any food business in accordance with the procedure laid down in Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. The purpose of the Act was to improve the hygiene and quality of food and has brought about tremendous changes in the food industry. As per the Act, no person shall commence or carry on any food business except under a FSSAI license or FSSAI registration.
All the manufacturers, traders, restaurants who are involved in food business must obtain a 14-digit registration or a license number which must be printed on food packages. Applicability:
This is applicable to all food units involved into Manufacturing, Processing, Trading, Packing, Distribution, Export, Import, Transportation, Warehousing, Storage, Sales, Re-packing, Re-labeling, Wholesale, Retail, Hotel, Canteen, Dhaba, Restaurant, Club and Resorts or any sort of food business in India commonly termed as Food Business operators.
Documents Required for Obtaining License:
- Copy of PAN card of the proprietor / partners / directors.
- Copy of Voter’s ID/ Passport/Driver’s License / Aadhar Card of the proprietor / partners / directors. (any 2)
- Passport sized photograph of the proprietor / partners / directors. (6 copies)
- Rental Agreement / Sale deed of commercial space.
- Copy of PAN card of the partnership firm / company
- Certificate of Incorporation / Partnership Deed of the Company / Partnership firm.
- Memorandum and Articles of Associates of the Company.
- Other Registration certificate of the Company (SSI, Sales Tax, IEC Code, etc)
- Two Letter Pad of the Company.
- Copy of latest electricity bill and tax receipt in the name of landlord of office address.
- Dealership or Franchise Agreement.
- Product List, Production quantity, employee details of the Company.
Additional Documents for Manufacturer:
- Blueprint / layout plan of the processing unit.
- Name and List of Equipments and Machinery along with the number, installed capacity and horse power used.
- List of food category desired to be manufactured.
- Pesticide residues report of water.
